Lauren Baker Ceramics

I live and work in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, creating colour-led ceramics from a pottery in the Ouseburn valley. Inspired by vibrancy and colour clash, a lot of my designs are an exercise in control and co-incidence. Using powdered stain to colour earthenware slip, co-ordinating and contrasting colours are dripped, dabbed, pushed and poured in to plaster moulds to create unexpected finishes. The final outcome is never the same, making each piece perfectly unique.
